Faulty foot mechanics and walking patterns can often lead to ankle, knee, hip, and low back pain. A certain amount of pronation and supination can be controlled through a well selected shoe. However, when this is not enough, a custom orthotic can alleviate pain and prevent further damage to structures in the body.

That said, depending on our biomechanical makeup, we can often prevent the need for orthotics by rehabilitating weak or inhibited muscles appropriately. Therefore, custom orthotics can be extremely useful in allowing us to continue to participate in our favourite activities during a time when we are rehabilitating weak musculature. A complete assessment is always necessary to determine whether custom orthotics are ideal for you.
